UDHAMPUR: Panic griped at Dharuva Theater near Northern Command Office on Jammu and Kashmir National Highway while a Maruti van suddenly blew up after a blast.
On hearing the sound army jawans came in action and cordoned the area till fire tenders reached the spot.
A Maruti van coming from Udhampur towards Garhi suddenly caught fire causing a loud blast which created panic in the locality.
Traffic movement was disrupted for few hours till fire tender controled the fire.
Police party headed by SHO O.P Chib under the supervision of Addl SP Khalil Ahmad Poswal and army jawans also rushed to the spot and regulated the smooth flow of traffic.
However police ruled out any incident of bomb blast and disclosed that it was merely an electric short circuit. No life has been lost but the van was completely destroyed. Police have registered a case and launched the investigation.
