JAMMU: Seven accused including the notorious land grabber Ravinder Kumar alias Gola Shah have been arrested for their involvement in murder of a 39-year-old man, over land dispute.
FIR (39/24) under section 307/323 /447/147/1PC has been registered against Parshotam Singh, son of Gian Singh, resident of village Kartholi Tehsil Bari Brahmana, Samba, Ravinder Kumar alias Gola Shah, his son Rakshat, Sheikh Mehmood, son of Sheikh Ghulam Mustafa and others.
Taking action over the killing of a 39-year-old man in Greater Kailash, who was attacked in the presence of police over a land dispute on Tuesday, SSP Jammu, Dr Vinod Kumar, has ordered the suspension of incharge Police Post (IC/PP) Greater Kailash PSI Puneet Sharma. A Special Invest-igations Team under the supervision of of SDPO South has been constituted.
Pertin-ently, Avtar Singh, son of Balbir Singh of Kaluchak was attacked by a group of goons on Tuesday evening when he objected to forcible possession of a plot he had allegedly purchased long back.

In the attack, Avtar Singh suffered severe head injuries and he was taken to Government Medical College hospital Jammu, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Gangyal police have registered case FIR (39/24) under section 307/323/447/147/IPC.
Deceased Avtar Singh, father of 8-month old child was scheduled to return to New Zealand to join his family on May 12. He had come to Jammu to take along his parents.
Avtar Singh was working with McDonald at New Zealand. Yesterday, he joined his father Balbir Singh to save their plot measuring 1 kanal 3 marla land from land grabbers, when he was attacked on head.
In his last statement, Avtar Singh has termed land grabbers and police responsible for attack on him.
Avtar has posted two videos on his facebook page before dying. “Corruption has deep routed into the system and so we have lost young blood and alone bread earner in the family, said Avtar’s cousin. The family is waiting for Avtar’s wife and 8-month old child to arrive in India as they are in New Zealand. The cremation is scheduled to be held on May 3.
Sources informed that those who have been arrested include Ravinder Kumar alias Gola Shah, Kuldeep Charak, Purshotam Singh, Suraj Singh and Vikas Singh. Former SSP Sheikh Mehmood was also detained. However, he left police station late night on personal bond citing his medical condition, sources said. Ravinder Kumar alias Gola Shah’s son is reportedly in Delhi. As his name also figures in the FIR, he has been asked to return and surrender, sources said.
