JAMMU: List of encroachments and other misdeeds of Sahdev Rohmetra alias “Chittu” are coming to fore, day by day, like his blackmailing and Hawala transactions.

Apart from encroaching the plot of one T.R Abrol viz 19-A, Block-C, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu where S.D Rohmetra, Editor Daily Excelsior, constructed a bid house without any permission from the Municipality followed by encroachment of 17 Marlas and 53 sq.ft of J.D.A land (excluding the encroachment of Govt. land of above 7 knalas) and illegal construction there without any permission from the municipality or J.D.A as confirmed by order No. 175-HUD of 7th June 2010 and JDA/DLM/HQ dated 9th December 2011, a new glaring example of Rohmetra alias “Chittu’s” has come to light.

An official of the Housing and Urban Development Department has confirmed that Sahdev Rohmetra was allotted 2700 sq. ft of land on the banks of a Nallah in front of Plot No. 19-A, Block C, behind the house of Dr. R.L. Bhat, where he constructed a building to run his press under the name and style of M/s Excelsior Printer (P) Ltd. (which was later disallowed by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India).

Sahdev Rohmetra alias “Chittu”, who never bothered to take permission from the Building Permission Authorities, constructed basement, measuring 2790 sq. ft ground floor measuring 2706 sq. ft and first floor of 289 sq. ft illegally and nobody dared to take any action due to his blackmailing tactics on the officers concerned. Here it is pertinent to mention that basements are not allowed in Gandhi Nagar, but who cares or can dare when the corrupt officers are in the pocket of Sahdev Rohmetra alias “Chittu”. The illegal construction on the allotted plot of 2700 sq. ft has now swollen to a size of more than 5,400 sq ft due to encroachment. While the government is boasting of clean administration and work culture, will anybody in the government take any in this third case of encroachment and illegal construction, is a million dollar question to which a criminal silence is likely to be kept?

Sahdev Rohmetra alias”Chittu” who claims the circulation of Daily Excelsior as 2,30,499 copies per day to Registrar Newspaper of India and Directorate of Audio and Vidual Publicity (DAVP), excluding the copies sold above 40% commission and complimentary copies, is also a bid fraud which needs to be verified. Since there is no unit in J&K manufacturing newsprint so all the newsprint is imported from the adjoining states and in all the cases the paper has to pass through the Excise Toll Post at Lakhanpur where “Toll Tax Exemption Form” has to be submitted, record of which is available from all the concerned departments. The records reveal that the newsprint paper purchased/imported by Daily Excelsior during the year 2010-11 could print only 31 to 32 thousand copies per day. It is surprising how Rohmetra alias “Chittu” is claiming his newspaper’s circulation of 2,30,499 copies per day?
