JAMMU: State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) on Monday booked an incharge Range Officer of Forest Department, presently posted at Lakhanpur, in an alleged disproportionate assets case. Simultaneous raids were conducted at his office, residence and a factory located in Kathua district.
During the raid, suspicious documents pertaining to movable, immovable properties and benami assets were seized.
The SVO sleuths also conducted raid at Shail Sports Factory at Govindsar, allegedly owned by the Range Officer. The factory has been set up in the name of the Incharge Range Officer Pankaj Khajuria’s wife, said SVO investigators adding that Shail Sports is manufacturing cricket bats and other sports good.
Further scrutiny of the seized record will be carried out during further course of investigation by sleuths of SVO. The SVO has registered a case of disproportionate assets against Range Officer of Lakhanpur, Pankaj Khajuria, son of Bodh Raj, resident of Janglote, Kathua vide FIR 26/17 under Section 5(1) (e) Section 5(2) J&K P.C Act Svt 2006.
Sleuths conducted raids at Janglote, Lakhanpur and Govindsar in Kathua district.
Acting on a tip-off that the accused had amassed huge wealth and movable and immovable assets while posted in Kathua District, especially at Lakhanpur, the teams conducted raids with the help of local police and magistrates.
The SVO sleuths said, Pankaj Khajuria, a Forest Guard was working as Incharge Range Officer for the past many years. He served in Kathua district only.
Sources informed that after Choudhary Lal Singh was given Forest Ministry, Pankaj was appointed as Incharge Range Officer Lakhanpur.
Numerous complaints were filed against him but no action was being taken against him due to political patronage.
The SVO, after gathering evidences of amassing of huge wealth and movable, immovable properties, conducted raids at his residence, office and factory.
