Trucker, associate arrested, 10 kg poppy straw recovered

BANIHAL: Police on Friday arrested a trucker and his associate and recovered 10 kg poppy straw from the vehicle.
According to a report, a police party from Police Post Jawahar tunnel laid a Naka at Jawahr Tunnel. During checking of vehicles, a truck bearing regd. No. RJ131G- 0113 on way from Valley to Punjab was signalled to stop for checking. During the checking of truck, 10 Kg poppy straw was found concealed in the specially fabricated fuel tank, being smuggled from Kashmir Valley to Punjab.
Accordingly, driver and his associate were arrested on the spot who have been identified as Bakshish Singh son of Kundan Singh resident of Piddi Tehsil and District Tarantaran and Rajinder Singh son of Darshan Singh resident of Jamsehdpur, Jharkhan at present village Piddi Tehsil and District Tarantaran. A case vide FIR No. 36/2016 under section 8/21 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Banihal. Poppy Straw along with the truck was seized at Police Post Jawahar Tunnel.
The arrests were made by police party led by SI Gurupal Singh, In-Charge Police Post Jawahar Tunnel.
