JAMMU: A deputation of KAS aspirants, led by Amit Langer, met BJP President Sat Sharma and sought raising of upper age limit for the coveted exams from 35 to 40 years.
The aspirant candidates pleaded that since the advertisement with regard to conduct of KAS examination has been issued after a gap of three years, those of the candidates who were eligible then stand deprived of the last chance. They said that the recent advertisement of KAS exams in which the PSC has set the upper age limit as 35 years is detrimental to their interests. The deputation said that many aggrieved candidates had crossed the upper age limit of 35 years now, who could have been eligible had these posts been advertised timely. They said that even in coveted IAS exams the upper age limit for J&K candidates has been fixed 37 years. They said that the Court had stayed the previous exams and therefore the age limit should be enhanced to 40 years. Meanwhile, Sat Sharma BJP MLA from Jammu West has urged the Government to increase the age limit of candidates desirous for KAS exams to 40 years. During Zero Hour in the Legislative Assembly, Sharma said that it is a golden opportunity for the candidates as the number of posts advertised were 277 and that too after the gap of three years.
