JAMMU: To mark 121st birthday of Guru Gyagi Ji, a function was organised in Shahzadpur wherein thousands of devotees hailing from far off places participated in the function.
On the occasion, MLA Marh, Choudhary Sukhnandan Kumar was the Chief Guest.
While paying tributes to Guru Gyagi, MLA said that the spiritual scholars have left indelible mark in public service, which needs to be emulated by people for making this world a better place to live. He urged the gathering to ornament their children with education, which he said is necessary for their overall empowerment.
On the prime demand of gathering, the MLA announced to have a new community facility hall constructed at Guru Asthan in a near future from his own CDF. The Chairman, J&K Batwal Welfare Association, Sub Maj (retd) Romesh Sargotra said that the teachings of great saint are universal in nature and promote self-realization by devotion, service and love of mankind.
During the function, the Celebration Committee honored Rattan Batwal of Punjab for remaining on call 24 hours a day the year round and working non-profitably for various social causes of the society. Such social workers deserve to be viewed at par with doctors, barristers and teachers, said R.L Kaith.
Besides, the Celebration Committee felicitated Guru Gaygi Yagya Committee Secretary Krishan Lal Sandhu and Association’s dedicated worker Dev Raj Lakhotra.
