Golden Era of Music—a tribute to Kishore, RD enthralls Jammuites

JAMMU: Old musical tracks of the legendary singer of Bollywood Kishore Kumar and musician R.D Burman spread its charm once again in a musical afternoon on Thursday.
The event became even more memorable with the performance by a noted singer and composer Sunil Sharma, whose voice bears a close resemblance to that of the legendary singer.
A musical concert in the memory of Kishore Kumar was organised at the auditorium of Government College for Women, Parade to observe the 87th Birth Anniversary of Kishore Kumar. Notably, Kishore Kumar is known to be one of the most versatile singer and actor of the eighties. During his career, he had created various milestones and sang such tracks which are unforgettable even today.
To pay homage to such a legendary singer, the singers of RD and Kishore Fan Club, Jammu, presented a special live music concert ‘Golden Era of Music’.
The Jammu based musical group, presented some of the melodious tracks of Kishore Kumar leaving the audience enthralled. The famous tracks by Kishore Da made the audience experience the old times once again in a live concert.
While talking about the show, Founder of RD and Kishore Club, Sunil Sharma said, “This is a show in the memory of the legendry playback singer Kishore Kumar to observe his birth anniversary which falls on 4th August.”
Elaborating further, he said, “This concert is a tribute to one of the best singers and actors of Bollywood.”
Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was the Chief Guest while Editor-in-Chief State Times Raj Daluja, Managing Director Malhotra Enterprises, Pardeep Malhotra, Managing Director Hotel Asia, R.D Anand and Managing Director Nanda Builders Subash Nanda were the Guests of Honour. The programme was presided over by Dr Renu Goswami, Principal, Government College for Women, Parade.
The programme featured some of the hit tracks of Kishore Kumar from his famous movies. From his famous yoodling to romantic tracks such as ‘Yeh Sama Sama Hai Ye Pyar Ka’, ‘Yeh Mera Dil Pyar Ka Diwana’, ‘Aaj Unse Pehli Mulakat Hogi’, ‘Mere Sapnon Ki Rani Kab Aayegi Tu’, ‘Inteha Ho Gai Intezar Ki’, ‘Karvaten Badalte Rahe Saari Raat Hum’, ‘Jaane Jaan Dhoondta Phir Raha’, ‘Bin Tere Sanam Mar Mitenge Hum’, ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas’, ‘Rimjhim Gire Sawan Sulag Sulag Jaaye Man’, ‘Hamein Aur Jeene Ki Chahat Na Hoti’, ‘Dilbar Mere Kab Tak Mujhe’ and many more were performed.
The Jammu music lover students of the college and the fans of Kishore Kumar took the pleasure of his melodious tracks live on stage.
Also Punjabi songs presented by Sunil and Indu Bala on demand of students, added zest to the programme. Sunil sang a famous Punjabi song ‘Main Tenu Samjhawan Ki’ of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan while Indu Bala enthralled the gathering with ‘Boohey Barian Ena Lee Kanda Tap Key, Awaan Gi Hawa Ban Key’. The singers who mesmerised the jam-packed audience with their melodious voices include Shreya, a student of GCW Parade, Sunil Sharma, Naresh Kumar founder of The Strings Institute, Indu Bala, Lucky and others.
Appreciating efforts of the organisers, Chief Guest and Guests of Honour said that musical concert is a novel concept and the club deserves special appreciation for the efforts. Congratulating Sunil Sharma and his associates for organising such a memorable programme, Editor-in-Chief State Times, Raj Daluja said that since the RD and Kishore Fan Club was established, it is working to keep Kishore Kumar alive in the hearts of people.
He also appreciated the efforts of club and hoped that such type of musical concert should also be organised in future.
The performers and the organisers were felicitated by the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour. The programme was anchored by Kusum Tickoo. The music concert was concluded with patriotic song sung by Sunil Sharma in the memory of freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle. Organisors also presented mementoes to Chief Guest and Guests of Honour. Other who make the musical concert memorable by their support through musical instruments include Rajat, Lucky, Sunil, Bobas and DK.
