POONCH: Faisal defeated Anuj 3-1 (09-11, 12-10, 11-09, 11-07) to claim the Junior boys’ singles title in the ongoing 26th District Table Tennis Championship at Government Degree College complex, here on Thursday.
The veteran singles title went to Narinder Singh, who beat Jagjit Singh in straight sets of 11-09, 11-07. Earlier, in the semifinals, Narinder beat Sham Singh 09-11, 11-07, 11-06 while Jagjit outplayed Prof J.S Vir. Preliminary Round: Narinder bt Ravinder 11-09, 11-05; Sham Singh got walkover Jaswant Singh; Prof JS Vir got walkover Ashraf Hussain; Jagjit Singh bt Vivek.
Meanwhile, in men’s singles final, slated for tomorrow, Failsa shall take on Propkar. In the semifinals, played today, Proplar Singh outplayed defending champion, Salil Raina 3-1 (09-11, 11-09, 11-09, 11-0) in a closely contested game and Faisal trounced Vaishab 11-07, 11-08, 11-08.
Similarly, in men’s doubles event, Salil Raina and Sandeep Luthra shall take on the duo of Narinder and Faisal. Semifinals: Faisal and Narinder bt Hassan and Safan 3-2 (09-11, 09-11, 11-06, 11-09, 11-08); Salil Raina and Sandeep Luthra bt Rachit and Marshal 11-09, 11-06, 11-07).Preliminary Round: Faisal and Narinder bt Gagan and Propkar 08-11,11-09,11-09; Safan and Hasan bt Riaz and Javed 11-08, 11-09; Salil Raina and Sandeep Luthra bt Anuj and Vaishav 11-05,11-09; Rachit and Marshal bt Sham Singh and Ravinder Singh.
