Bhanu returns with Silver in World Wushu Cup

JAMMU: The ace Wushu player of the Jammu and Kashmir, Surya Bhanu Partap Singh has brought laurels to the State and the country by winning silver medal in the Eighth World Wushu Cup held in Xian, China recently.
Besides, the son of the soil, Surya Bhanu Partap Singh has also won Bronze in 13th World Championship held in Indonesia while Gold Medal in 12th South Asian Games held in India and Silver Medal in First Asia Cup held at Maccu.
His coach, Kuldeep Handoo, under whose supervision and guidance Surya Bhanu Partap learned and practicing Wushu since long.
According to Surya Bhanu Partap Singh, he wants to lead the State and the country from the front and desires to win more medals in the years to come. He also said that there is much more to do to make the Wushu game popular among the new generation, which he said, has wider scope for the new players.
Meanwhile, DGP, K Rajendra Kumar, felicitated Surya Bhanu Partap Singh and Kuldeep Handoo (Chief Coach of India) at PHQ today for securing silver medal.
Both the officials were in the National Coaching camp at different SAI Centers since 20th May 2016.
Prior to the participation for the prestigious event, they along with Indian team attended one month Foreign Exposure training at China.
Surya Bhanu Partap Singh is working with J&K Police since 2015 and has won four medals in the International Championships during the current year. He has also the distinction of winning bronze medal in 13th World Wushu Championship-2015, Gold Medal in 12th SAF Games -2016 and Silver Medal in Masters Challenge Cup at Macau-2016.
The notable achievements of Kuldeep Handoo as Chief Coach of India in Wushu for the year 2015-16 include winning of 3 silver and 01 bronze medals in 13th World Wushu Championship, 11 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals in 12th SAF Games, 4 silver, 5 bronze medals in 9th Asian Wushu Championship-2016 at Taiwan, 4 silver , 1 bronze medals in 8th Wushu World Cup-2016 at China and 1 silver medal in Masters Challenge Cup-2016 at Macau.
The DGP congratulated both the officials for their outstanding performance in the international arena and assured full support to them from the department.
The other dignitaries present during the felicitation ceremony including V.K Singh, ADGP Hqrs, L .Mohanty, ADGP Armed J&K, H. K Lohia, IGP Technical Services, Ranjeet Kalra (VP) Wushu Association of J&K and Jigmet, Dysp Sports APHQ J&K also congratulated Surya Bhanu Partap Singh and Kuldeep Handoo for their remarkable achievement.
