Kashmir phobia has not only gripped those who want to accede to Pakistan under the garb of ‘Azad’ but a powerful section of Indian civil society and media is also suffering from this syndrome. While Jammu is currently braving the brunt of Pakistani shelling, a reputed national television channel is referring to Kashmir borders. It has gone to the extent of saying that ‘20,000 Kashmiris’ have migrated from their homes for safety while the fact remains that the sufferers belong to the Jammu region, which has all along opposed Pakistan and so-called Jihad in the State.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for a particular segment of Indian civil society to distort facts about Jammu and Kashmir, advertently or inadvertently, which suppresses patriotic forces of the State?
