With most of the traffic lights dysfunctional in Jammu, instructions have been issued to men in blue to take strong cognizance of violators of signal lights installed at number of places in twin capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu. Accordingly, Traffic Police shall take into possession the driving licence of the violators and forward these to the Transport Department for suspending the licences for a period not less than three months. Is it a matter of pride or shame for the authorities concerned to crack down on violators instead of taking on the persons and agencies responsible for installing defective signal lights, which failed to generate the culture of traffic discipline?
