With flood havoc causing devastation across Jammu and Kashmir, media houses are getting flooded with handouts of every big and small political leader and minister expressing sorrow over loss of life and damage to property. Each one of them is issuing instructions to his party cadre to extend all assistance to sufferers and doing nothing himself except ensuring that his name finds space in next day’s newspapers. The ministers and bureaucrats are busy in photo ops in the backdrop of suffering people and gushing rain water.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for police officers, ministers and even legislators to pose for photos with common man or a subordinate holding umbrella over his delicate head to save him from getting drenched in torrential rains during his ‘review’ mission of affected areas?
