In a fit of desperation, a senior National Conference leader has quoted, while decoding in a distorted manner, Jammu and Kashmir Constitution guarantees ‘that the Head of the State (Chief Minister) must be from the majority’. He does not talk about majority of the members elected to Legislative Assembly but interprets ‘majority’ as majority of the population; in this case Muslims. He specifically says that Jammu and Kashmir can have only a Muslim Chief Minister.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for a several times legislator and a minister to ridicule himself in the public eye by showing ignorance about the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir?
