The gruesome road accident in Udhampur has yet again exposed the claims of the Traffic Department that law will take its course against the offenders violating traffic norms. The ill-fated bus was overcrowded, which must have crossed many Nakas. How come that nobody in Khakis or Blues took any action to save the passengers, which were dumped in the bus like cattle? The unfortunate truth of all major accidents remains overloading, which is not possible without active connivance of the department concerned.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for successive government’s not to address to issues connected with road safety despite making tall claims during the annual rituals like Road Safety Weeks?
