Separatist hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani has again been put under house arrest. The successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir have been playing hide and seek with the hard-core secessionist, who misses no opportunity to challenge the integrity and sovereignty of the nation. For his seditious acts in the recent past, a strong pitch was made for his arrest. Ironically, the BJP, a coalition partner in the Mufti-led government, too had supported the demand for putting Geelani behind bars but nobody listened to pleas of ‘the party with difference’.
Is it a matter of pride or shame for law enforcing agencies to put separatists under house arrest, in order to placate their political bosses, despite solid cases of sedition against them?
