JAMMU: Younis Kuchey of Srinagar lifted the maiden 6-Red Ball title beating Mudassar Ashiq in a neck of neck contest that lasted for eight frames of the best of nine game in the ongoing State Billiards and Snooker Championships, organised by J and K Billiards and Snooker Association, at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here on Tuesday.
Earlier, losing two opening frames, Younis made a comeback taking away the following frames so as to level the score on board 2-2. However, Mudassar stunned Younis with absolute 41-01 win in the fifth frame, but only to fine latter playing his natural game winning three frames in a row and the game also. The score: 20-40, 22-34, 41-10, 32-22, 01-41, 52-04, 28-12, 43-19.
Meanwhile, Vasu Gupta has qualified for the final of the sub-junior category after he defeated Furkan Wani 3-1 (33-51, 55-27, 66-39, 57-31). Earlier, in a preliminary round match, Vasu beat Samad Sharma 2-1 (53-28, 42-50, 64-45).
