Workshop on Ladakhi folk songs, dances concludes

NUBRA: Ten-day training workshop on traditional music (Daman and Surna), folk songs and folk dances organized by Himalayan Cultural Heritage Foundation (HCHF) in collaboration with villages communities of Yar-zhung, Nubra concluded here on Wednesday. MLA Nubra, Deldan Namgyal presided over the concluding function. Twenty trainees participated in the Daman and Surna training and women groups from Arunu Yokma, Aranu Gongma, Ayee, Kubet, Hargam and Taksha participated to learn folk dances and folk songs. The training was imparted by music experts from Leh Ali Mohammad and Tashi Jorgais (Bandey).
MLA congratulated the trainees and appreciated HCHF and village communities for organizing the workshop. While assuring to recommend Ali Mohd for State and National Awards, Deldan said “Ali Mohammad is a gem of Ladakh and his service in the field of culture and communal harmony needs to be recognized not only on state level but also on national level”. Dr Sonam Wangchok, Secretary HCHF urged village communities to support the trainees to become perfect. President Deton Tsogspa Kubet, Tsewang Phuntsog thanked MLA Nubra for supporting the training workshop financially and HCHF for organizing it. The villagers of Arunu, Ayee, Kubet, Hargam and Taksha presented a colourful cultural programme on the occasion.
