Why Bandh?

0 70

Calling Bandh at the drop of the proverbial hat or staging protests for no reason or rhyme should be stopped. These type of actions have only benefitted handful of individuals who just want to keep their agenda going on. One should ask these self-proclaimed leaders what actually they have achieved till date? Except befooling self and others and some pecuniary benefits for self they have not been able to achieve anything for the people of whom they swear to fight for. From the 2008 Amarnath land row which went for over two months to the recent ongoing strike in Kashmir Valley called by Hurriyat which has crossed the 42-day mark no positive outcome has been achieved except hardship for the common man who is caught in the vortex of the turmoil with uncertainty and militancy looming large. Lack of political vision and acumen by the political masters, the situation has become more critical. Even the deferred Jammu Bandh call for Saturday too reflected the above mentioned qualities. Calling for a reverse-Bandh pertaining to or producing movement in a mechanism opposite to that made under ordinary conditions in response to non-lifting of strike in Kashmir looks like in tune with the separatist agenda and serving the purpose of anti-nationals to create a wedge in Jammu region which hardly has any political maturity. In fact Jammu should have stood against the Kashmiri leaders designs and scuttled any move to create an uncertainty which is still going on. The so-called leaders calling Bandh is no assertiveness of the political system of the region. There should be some check mechanism on expression of such democratic rights. It is the judicious use of such a mechanism that would bring the desired results if not it will trivalise even the genuine cause.
