R S PURA : The residents of Panchayat Viyaspura Purla led by MLA Shyam Choudhary and MLA Gharu Ram held a protest against National Conference (NC) leader Taranjeet Singh Tony and others who thrashed Sarpanch Tarsem Lal in Police Station Arnia on Wednesday.
According to the protesters Tony and his associations Ram Pal, Joginder Singh, Mohan Lal and Lovely Singh thrashed the Sarpanch who had gone to police station to settle some ration distribution dispute. They said that in spite of the complaint made by the Sarpanch to SHO Arnia, he did not register the FIR. The protesters Gheraoed the office of SDPO RS Pura Devinder Singh and did not allow him to come out. They demanded immediate registration of case against the NC leader and his associates and also transfer of the SHO Arnia. They alleged that the police is working under the influence of ruling party and efforts are being made to save the culprits.
SDM RS Pura Rajinder Sharma reached the spot and pacified the protesters assuring them registration of case against the NC leader and his associates under Section 332 of RPC. On his assurance the protesters lifted Dharna.
