VAJK organises volleyball matches in Jammu, Pallanwala, Udhampur, Kathua

JAMMU/UDHAMPUR/KATHUA: To mark the celebrations of the 77th Independence Day, Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council organized volleyball matches at Jammu, Pallanwala, Udhampur and Kathua under the banner of Azadi Ka Khel Utsav, Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, My Youth My Pride and Mari Mati Mara Desh-initiatives undertaken by Govt to promote national unity and communal harmony and to eradicate menace of drug among the youth in the country. At Jammu, an exhibition volleyball match for women was organised by Trikuta Volleyball Club at Play field Shastri Nagar, here. Trikuta Volleyball Club beat Army Children Club Jammu by 2-1 set in a keenly contested match which was officiated by Anil Spolia and Neha Bhagat. Krishna Charak and Meena Devi of Trikuta Club displayed magnificent skills and were declared best attacker and setter whereas Suman Kumari of Army Children Club was declared best Libero in the match by the experts. Rajeev Sharma Member J&K Sports Council, Mohd Hanief Chief Sports Officer, Ashok Singh Divisional Sports Officer Jammu and Anil Sharma Manager Play field Shastri Nagar Jammu graced the function as special guests. They appreciated the efforts of organisers for organising the event efficiently.

Rajeev Sharma also announced 12 volleyball for distribution to Trikuta Volleyball Club Jammu for their outstanding contribution in the recently concluded 48th Junior National Volleyball Championship held at Jammu. The special guests also distributed trophies, medals and certificates among the winner and runner-up teams. The office bearers of Volleyball Association of J&K Kuldip Magotra CEO, H. S Gill Executive Vice-President, Vijay Kumar Magotra Hony General Secretary, R. C Sharma Treasurer, Manpreet Kour and Veena Kumari (both Executive Members) besides a large number of sports lovers also grace the occasion. Vote of thanks was presented by Mulkh Raj Sharma, volleyball coach. At Pallanwala, an exhibition volleyball match was organized by Border Lion Volleyball Club Pallanwala at Govt Middle School Pallanwala. Master Puran Singh, President of the Club and Joint Secretary of VAJK and local members of the club were present on the occasion. The match was played between Border Lion Volleyball Club Pallanwala A and Border Lion Volleyball Club Pallanwala B in which Border Lion Volleyball Club Pallanwala A registered a win. At Udhampur, Volleyball Association of Distt Udhampur organized an exhibition match at Tehsil Chenani, Sudhmahadev between Vishal Volleyball Club and Blue Vishal Volleyball Club. In the well contested match, Vishal Volleyball Club beat Blue Vishal Volleyball Club by 2-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-23) sets. The Chief Guest of the match, Rahul Singh Bhau, Sub Inspector Police Post Sudhmahadev distributed mementos among the winner and runner-up teams. Local senior citizens of Sudhmahadev also witnessed the match which was played under the supervision of Vishal Sharma and Ashok Padha, President VADU and his team.

At Kathua, Kathua District Volleyball Association organized an exhibition match at GHS Mela. The event was organized under the supervision of Chief Patron Madan Lal Toofan, President Kamal Sharma, General Secretary Mohinder Kumar, and Members Attar Singh, Surat Singh, Madan Lal, Rajesh Goswami, Ram Lal and Keshav Sharma. In a well contested match, Volleyball Club Mela outplayed Rising Star Hiranagar by 2-1 sets. On the occasion, Sarpanch Mela Rajni Sadotra along with Panchs of Mela Panchyat were the Chief Guest and DySP Tilak Raj Bhardwaj was the Guest of Honour, who distributed trophies aming winner and runner-up teams. The office bearers of Volleyball Associations headed by Sidharth Daluja, president VAJK hailed the steps taken by all district Volleyball Associations in J&K UT to celebrate Independence Day in a befitting manner.
