KATHUA: In order to promote tourism and create mass awareness about new areas of tourism and pilgrim importance, a FAM tour for media persons was organised on Wednesday.
As per a press release , the media FAM tour was organised by Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority in collaboration with Department of Information and Public Relations. Dr.Bharat Bhushan,Chief Executive Officer, Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority apprised that as per directions of Director Tourism Jammu, R.K Varma, the tour was conducted to showcase the pilgrim and tourism spots falling in Hiranagar,Basohli and Billawar areas of Distt. Kathua. He added that Nagendra Jamwal, Joint Director Information, Jammu facilitated the FAM tour.
More than forty media persons from Jammu and Kathua representing electronic and print media, various news agencies, Press Bureau of India besides officials of Information Department and Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority were part of the FAM tour.
The FAM tour participants visited Shrine of Baba Sidh Goria located at Kote Qasba-Sallan near Dayalachack, Varun Devta- Ujh Peer Baba Shrine, Billawar,Ancient Shiva Temple Billawar, Shrine of Sukrala Devi at Sukral village and Atal Setu Cable Bridge,Basohli. Enroute, the team was shown on- going works of Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority coming up at Sukrala,Phinter,Mahanpur and Marta Nagrota,Basohli. The media persons envinced keen interest at the visited places.
The media personnel appreciated the first of its kind FAM tour organised by Tourism and Information Departments and hoped that more such tours will be organised in future covering other locations of the State as well. They were requested to help promote these unexplored and virgin locations where required infrastructure is fast coming up. Dr.Bharat Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority, Indu Jamwal, District Information Officer Kathua, Raman Joshi, Cultural Officer of Information Department, .Kamal Kishore Darora XEn Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority, Mehar Chand, Accounts Officer, LSDA and other officials of Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority and Information Department accompanied the media persons during FAM tour.
