PCJ signs MoU with MCNM Deptt of CUJ

JAMMU: Taking yet another historic step towards providing more opportunities to the members of the journalist community to hone their skills President, Press Club of Jammu (PCJ) Ashwani Kumar signed first ever Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Mass Communication and New Media (MCNM), Central University Jammu (CUJ) here on Wednesday.
The MoU was signed by Ashwani Kumar, President PCJ and Jit Singh, Registrar, CUJ in a ceremony which was attended by Vice Chancellor of the CUJ, Prof Ashok Aima.
Prof Lokesh K Verma, Academic Coordinator, Dean School of Education, Head Department of Educational Studies and Prof Deepsheekha Kotwal, Dean School of Languages, Head Department of MCNM and English, several other senior faculty members of the CUJ, Managing Committee members of the PCJ were present on the occasion.
Ashwani said, the main objective behind signing the MoU was fostering academic exchange and partnership for furthering research and training. He complimented Prof Ashok Aima for taking this historic decision of entering in to a partnership with the Press Club of Jammu.
Ashwani said this relationship will go a long way in helping members of the journalist community and budding students of Mass Communication to hone their skill set.
He said special interaction sessions between journalist members and researchers from the Central University can be organised.
After the signing of the MoU journalist members can regularly visit to deliver guest lectures on topics of current affairs and attend seminars and agenda specific conferences.
Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Secretary General, too expressed happiness over joining hands with the Press Club of Jammu for shaping career of budding journalists currently admitted in Mass Communication programme.
Prof Ashok Aima said, students of Central University studying in the Department of Mass Communication and New Media would get hands on training and enroll themselves for internship and placement in different media houses.
He said Mass Communication students will get practical experience when they will attend regular press conferences in Press Club of Jammu and students will be involved in special assignments and research work in border areas.
Office bearers of Press Club of Jammu including Abhimanu Sharma, Vice President,Finance Secretary, Dinesh Manhotra and other Managing Committee Members of Club, Deepak Khajuria, Surjeet Singh, Pawan Sharma and Dinesh Mahajan were present at the time of agreement.
