Srinagar wins 3-1 to advance in Hockey

SRINAGAR: District Srinagar on Saturday advanced in the next round of ongoing divisional level Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Tournament, organised by Indian Army in collaboration with J&K Sports Council (JKSC) and supported by the Hockey J&K at Hockey Stadium, Polo View, here. In today’s scheduled tie, Srinagar trounced district Ganderbal 3-1. Arunpreet Singh struck twice sounding the board in the 35th and 55th minute of the match while Tajinder Singh opened the team’s account netting the ball in the 33rd minute. From Ganderbal, the only goal came through Raja Asif in the 34th minute. Later, Arunpreet was adjudged Man of the Match. In today’s match, SSP Traffic, Srinagar, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah was Chief Guest, who encouraged the teams and presented the man of the match title to Arunpreet Singh. Others present were Major Indermeet Singh, Lt Col Keerti Kumar, Malik (ICICI Bank), Gurdeep Singh Sangral, Avtar Singh Bakshi, Rafiq Munshi (Executive member Hockey J&K), G.S Bakshi, Advocate Barkat Kour Rattan (Resident Secretary Hockey J&K) and Supinder Deep Singh Bakshi (General Secretary Hockey J&K). Today’s match was officiated by Ranjit Singh and Sohail Azim while Charanjit Singh was Match obsever and Gurjit Singh, Iqbal Singh and Ali Mohd maintained Technical table. Karanjit Singh, Balbir Singh, Mohd Hussain, Hardeep Singh and Adil Ashraf were present as reserve officials.
