South Asian Amateur Chess Championship;Soham of J&K earns 3.5 pts as 18 lead with 4

JAMMU: Soham Kamotra of Jammu and Kashmir impressed with 3.5 points while 18 other Indian players emerged leaders with four points at the end of round four in the ongoing South Asian Amateur Chess Championship, organised by All J and K Chess Association, here on Saturday.
None of the four foreign competitions, including one from Bangladesh, could make their presence felt were trailing behind Indians.
Important to mention here that a good number of 50 participants are from hosts Jammu and Kashmir and three from Nepal and remaining 416 from 28 states of the country.
Among those leaders with four points were Sonkalan Bharti of West Bengal; Jeet Jain of Gujarat; Vishwanath Prasad and Raghav srivasthav V of Telengana; Shubham Lakudkar, Rathi Dhanshree and Kadav Omkar of Maharashtra; Neelabh Jyoti Borthakur of Assam; Mohd. Fasal V U, Suresh P K and Anjana Krishna S of Kerala; Rupesh Ranjan and Harsh Himanshu of Bihar and Souradip Deb of Tripura.
Meanwhile, as per a handout issued here on Wednesday, a cash prize worth Rs 10 lakh will be distributed among those winners of different age categories.
Earlier, the fourth round of the competition, which is being held under Swiss system, was inaugurated by senior vice president of the Association, A.R Wani.
