Prime Minister Narendra Modi has rightly termed the terror strike in Kashmir on innocent citizens and security personnel as “a shameful attack” on the democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir, especially as voters there have shown they are determined to support democracy. Going by evidence cited by the Army Spokesman in Srinagar, Lt. Col. N.N. Joshi, the act is no doubt the handiwork of Pakistan-sponsored elements who have shown time and again that they have no respect for democratic values. If India continues to talk to Pakistan despite the constant bloodshed, it will be construed as a timid response.
