RKJ, JKAACL felicitate Pt Tej Krishan Jalali in Jharokha-21

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Radio Kashmir, Jammu jointly felicitated Tej Krishan Jalali, a renowned classical vocalist, violinist and music director at a function organized at K.L Saigal Hall, Jammu under its regular series of interaction and felicitation programme entitled ‘Jharokha’.
Dr. Lalit Gupta, a prominent historian and art analystic was the Chief Guest, Satish Malhotra, Programme Head, Radio Kashmir, Jammu, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL and Pt. Tej Krishan Jalali were also present in the presidium.
While speaking on the occasion, Prof Lalit Gupta complimented Pt TK Lalali for his life time contribution in the field of classical music particularly in the region and in the country in general. He also expressed his concern over the downfall of the Institute of Music and Fine Arts and said that the efforts should be made for the upgradation of IMFA Jammu.
Born on 29th March, 1941 in Rainawari Srinagar, Pt. Tej Krishan Jalali had his early education in Srinagar and did M.A in Indian Classical Vocal Music from Jiwaji University Gwalior with class First position in 1968. Pt. Jalali is an exponent of traditional Agra and Gwalior Gharana, an acclaimed Guru, performing artist and composer. Trained by great masters viz Pandit Chidanand Nagarkar at Mumbai and Pandit Balasahib Poochwale of Gwalior for over 10 years. Pt.Tej Krishan had served in the Teaching Department of Institute of Music and fine Arts, Jammu and Srinagar for over 25 years and has also rendered his useful services as Dean Faculty of Music and Member Academy Council.
Being an artist, he has trained countless disciples prominent among are Archana Jaalali, M.K Raina, Navin Sharma and Chinmay Sharma. In addition, he has composed several T.V serial, radio feature and concerts. Recognising his valuable services, he has been deputed with numerous awards prominent which is ‘Award of Excellence’ by Jammu based cultural organisation Sabzaar in 1913.
Presently, he is devoting major time and attention in training young budding vocalists in Hindustani Classical Music in traditional Guru Shishya Parampara in order to give a boost to the dying popularity of this great art form of the State.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Anjana Badyal, Programme Executive RKJ whereas a detailed paper highlighting the life time contribution of Jalai in the field of music was presented by Brij Mohan, a noted writer of Hindi and Dogri Languages.
Pt. Tej Krishan Jalali, who was felicitated in the programme, also spoke in length and shared his experiences of life.
Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn whereas a citation was read out by Ashok Gupta, Editor Dogri, JAACL.
Prominent among those who were present include Prof Kalpana Kesar, Sunaina ,Krishan Langoo, V.K Sambyal, Rajinder Tickoo, Dr Kamal Sharma, Dr Baljit Raina, Dr Naseeb Singh Manhas, Hardeep Singh Deep, Dr Sushil Badyal, Kalpana Kesar, Des Raj Danish and Akash Priya.
