Retired cops protest, project demands

JAMMU: All J and K Retired Police Personnel Forum held a protest on Saturday at Exhibition Ground near Press Club here to press the government to fulfill their genuine demands.
A large number of retired police personnel under the leadership Ajit Singh gathered and raised slogans against the government for ignoring them.
Ajeet Singh condemned the Government Order No. 229-F of 2014 of 17th October, 2014 and alleged that government has played a joke with the retired police men.
Ajit also lamented that no relief has been provided to the retired police personnel, who were fighting their case since 1996. Protesting cops demanded enhancement of Medical Allowance from Rs. 300 to Rs. 3,000, free of cost medicines and treatment from the police hospitals, 15 per cent quota in recruitment of Police Department and professional courses, Rs 50,000 at the time of marriage of daughters /sons of the police retirees as a financial help out of welfare funds, at least Rs 50,000 at the time of death of retissred police personnel for performing the last rites of the deceased, benefit of one rank one pension and removal of pay anomalies.
Singh urged the government to redress the demands on priority basis for the benefit of the retired police personnel.
“No welfare facility is available for NGOs either at Jammu or Srinagar, whereas for GOs the Mess is available at both the places. The NGOs welfare deduction is more than GOs welfare deduction. This discrimination may please be taken care of,” he said.
