Reservation a bane for youths

Dear Editor,
The Constitution of India included sections for schedule caste and schedule Tribe to enjoy the temporary method of reservation till the date this section of the people emerge with mainstream. The ruling parties extended the reservation as quota benefit to those persons who were assisting their political sphere. Later on reservation in promotion was incorporated .Our political class used temporary provisions of reservation to divide the society on caste and religion. It was made to bring poor and downtrodden people to attain the equality with national main stream of the society. Today after 69 years of independence reservation is being misused and turning out to be the biggest element of discrimination. Going by the present scenario existing reservation policy needs amendments as people continue to get benefit even when they have gained higher status and to provide reservation is against the basic principles of equality and justice. It has been cementing the casteism, communalism and regionalism. Today reservation is undemocratic and inhuman and clearcut violation of human rights. It is grave injustice to the healthy competition and an insult to talent. It deprives people of services of competitive doctors, engineers, bureaucrats, administrators, political leaders and it has given birth to administrative incompetence and has jeopardised the career of talented. The masses have started opposing the legislations which contradict Fundamental Rights and promote caste based discrimination. Among the reserved category only educationally developed so called Dalits have been availing the benefit of reservation at the cost of the poor needy and deserving. They are not ready and will never be ready to provide space to the deprived. The way reservation has been providing jobs, education, economic privileges and political representation only helping the first line among reserved category who have strong political lobby which disallows second and third line to get any benefit of reservation.
In a democratic secular country every thing works under the Constitution. To implement, enforce and maintain Rule of Law judiciary has an important role to play. Government needs to honour the judgment delivered by the courts and must not interfere in the matter which is sub judice. The issue of reservation in promotion which is sub_judice must not be politicised. The verdict of the High Court of J and K and Apex Court has made it clear that reservation is not a fundamental right as claimed by the pro-reservations. It is discriminatory under clause 4 and 4 (A) of article 16. It is mandatory for State to show bio data, backwardness, inadequate representation in services exclusion of creamy layer of caste to whom provide reservation/reservation in promotion. It is duty of the State to see that Article 335 not to be compromised and 50 per cent limit should not be breached. It shouldn’t be extended indefinitely in a democratic country. Every group or organisation has the right to protest against anything for anything. The Lathi charge or any type of inhuman police action on peaceful protesters be strongly condemned.
It is appealed to the all political parties and learned people of the society to come out of caste based concession system and look for the upliftment of the poor, needy and deserving of all casts to bring equality in the society and unity among youths of the Nation.
