Process on for setting up Nursing College in Udhampur: Govt

JAMMU: Minister of State for Health Asiea Naqash on Friday informed the Legislative Assembly that a Nursing College has been approved for Udhampur during the current financial year under Capex Budget 2016-17 with a token grant of Rs 33 lakh to initiate the construction works. She further said that the department is in process of identification/finalization of suitable land for the purpose.
The Minister informed that during the financial year 2015-16, an amount of Rs 558.88 crore while in the year 2016-17 an amount of Rs 412.08 crore were earmarked to the Health Department in Jammu division for executing various works in the health institutions.
Similarly, an amount of Rs 544.99 crore and Rs 415.11 crore were allocated to Kashmir division during the years 2015-16 and 2016-17 respectively.
The allocations are being made by the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department on the basis of available resources cap of the State and department has no role in allocation of funds under health sector. However, due to limited availability of releases, uniform distribution of funds among various ongoing health institutions is maintained, she said. The Minister was replying to a question raised by Pawan Kumar Gupta.
She said the Trauma Center, which is part of the District Hospital, Udhampur, was sanctioned by the Government of India during the year 2008-09 and it is functioning as such and providing required medical services to trauma cases. An amount of Rs 80 lakh was released by the central government for undertaking necessary repair and renovation works of the existing infrastructure in District Hospital, Udhampur to establish this facility, she added.
