People protest against PHE Department

POONCH: People of village Chaktroo and Pothi held a protest against Public Health Engeenring (PHE) Department at Parade Ground Park Poonch under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Insaaf Movement and under the supervision of Muhammad Rashid, Joint Secretary of the movement where the protestors raised slogans against the department and alleged that the officers of the department have misplaced hundreds of pipes of the Pathri Water Gravity Scheme.
Addressing the protesters, Rashid said the people of the village are suffering due to lack of fresh drinking water. According to the report from local Layaqat Taj Chouhan, the lift scheme sanctioned for the villagers has totally failed and people are deprived of drinking water. Rashid allegedly said that the district and block level officers are embezzling the funds for the restoration of lift scheme and have also disposed off the pipes of Pathri Gravity Scheme. He appealed to State Government especially Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene in the matter personally and do the need full. Layaqat Taj said the lift scheme has two stages, one of which was opened after completing ten years long period. He alleged that they have approached many a time to the higher authorities, but no positive results were seen. He also demanded for inquiry of this matter as early as possible. Others who joined protest were Faizab Ahmed Awan, Mohd Rashid and Abas Malik.
