JAMMU: In a significant order a Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir and Justice B.S Walia directed Commissioner Secretary to Govt. (R&B), Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B) Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, SDM Mendhar, Executive Engineer (R&B) Poonch to submit the latest status of the construction of Mini secretariat Mendhar. The DB further directed the senior functionaries of the state to file the response as well as latest status of the construction within four weeks.
These directions were passed in public interest litigation filed by Zulfikar Ahmed Kahn and others residents of Tehsil Mendhar through Advocate Abrar Khan.
After hearing Advocate Abrar Khan appearing for the petitioners, the Division Bench headed by Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir issued notices to the Commissioner / Secretary PWD (R&B), Commissioner / Secretary Planning Department, Commissioner / Secretary Finance Department, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, SDM Mendhar, Executive Engineer (R&B) Poonch, Block Development Officer Mendhar and Assistant Executive Engineer (R&B) Mendhar returnable within four weeks.
Advocate Abrar Khan submitted that the work of Mini Secretariat Mendhar is going at snail’s space and virtually the work has been stopped due to the non-availability of funds. He further submitted that till date three story building has been raised but for no valid reason to construction work has been stopped.
While advancing his argument Advocate Abrar Khan invited the attention of the Division Bench towards the piece of land left out of the forest nursery which was acquired by the state for the construction of Mini Secretariat Mendhar has been left open thus exposing the same for land mafia.
