JAMMU: Prof Virender Gupta while reacting to the statement of Pakistan Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharief and the resolution passed by Pakistan National Assembly, said that Pakistan itself is not interested to solve Jammu and Kashmir issue.
He said that though Pakistan refers the UNO resolution and asks the Government of India to hold plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir, but Pakistan itself had not abided by the UNO resolution so far while recognizing Pakistan as aggressor, asked it to vacate the occupied areas of Jammu and Kashmir and put the same under the jurisdiction of Indian Government, before the plebiscite could be held. He asked Pakistan to stop interfering in the internal matters of India.
The spokesperson said that Pakistan has no legal claim on Jammu and Kashmir. The ruler of Jammu and Kashmir State was only authorised to decide about the accession of the State and he signed the same in favour of India. Pakistan has complicated the Jammu and Kashmir issue by sending the tribals and its forces to invade Jammu and Kashmir in 1947 and then staging a war in 1965 to capture the State. By training terrorists and importing them in the Valley, instigating the Kashmiri masses, Pakistan is responsible for disturbing the peace and tranquility of people of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan, by virtue of its policy of supporting terrorism, has become a danger and rogue State not only for the peace of Indian Sub-continent but is being branded as a terrorism breeding country and added that it itself had become victim of its own sponsored terrorism.
Gupta said that Jammu and Kashmir State, enjoying the benefits of democratic system had developed manifold in all the fields of development, whereas the illegally occupied part of Jammu and Kashmir State by Pakistan has not tasted the fruits of democracy and is far behind from democratic JK of India in all the fields of development.
Gupta said that there is a wide spread unrest and discontent in Sindh, POJK including Gilgit and Baltistan, Balochistan and people there are victim of atrocities, human right violations and crying for independence from Pakistan. He advised Pakistan to worry about its own disaster of disintegration, instead of creating problems for India. He further asked Pakistan to hold plebiscite in the provinces of Sindh, Balochistan and POJK to ascertain the wishes of the people in respect of whether they want to remain part of Pakistan or not.
