JAMMU: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi announced in his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme in October 2015 that the Central Government will eliminate the interviews for non-gazetted posts in Group B, C, D from 1st January 2016. It was one of the flagship promises Modi made in his maiden speech on the Independence Day from Red Fort. The move was an effort to put an end to the menace of corruption in jobs.
This was stated by Brig Anil Gupta, State Spokesperson, in an official handout issued here on Tuesday. “The decision of Government of India aimed at putting an end to the menace of corruption in jobs, eliminating the practice of ‘Sifarish’ (recommendation), introduce transparency and speeding up the process of enrolment in government jobs leading to less Government and more Governance is in total sync with the Agenda of Alliance,” explained Gupta. “Union Minister for Personnel Dr. Jitendra Singh had written a letter to all Chief Ministers asking them to identify such posts which could be exempted from interviews,” he mentioned.
“Many states and union territories responded positively to Central Government’s initiative and followed suit. Some of the other states abolished the requirement of interview for the posts of teachers only,” he said.
Expressing dissatisfaction, Brig Gupta stated “However, J&K State is yet to implement the scheme despite it being an important narrative of the Agenda of Alliance.”
“Keeping in view the large scale unemployment in the State leading to frustration among the youth as well as the need to speed up the recruitment process and in order to bring transparency and eliminate the feeling of discrimination, Bharatiya Janata Party unequivocally demanded doing away of interviews for non-gazetted posts in Group B,C and D,” stated the spokesperson.
