JAMMU: An All Party Meeting on Kashmir hogged all the limelight throughout Friday. All those political parties and their senior leaders who remained at the forefront of questioning and criticising the handling of present situation prevailing across the Kashmir valley in the aftermath of killing of HM terrorist Burhan Wani finally reconciled with the hard posturing adopted by the Union Government to teach its unruly neighbour a befitting reply at a crucial juncture.
The more significant voice from Kashmir,at least on the social media, however, went unnoticed and unheard. Reason; the organisers of the meeting had not extended an invitation to the Working President National Conference Omar Abdullah in time.
According to media reports from New Delhi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had informed the meeting that leader of the principal Opposition party and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah could not attend the meeting due to paucity of time. Now question arises if invitations were extended to all the political parties to attend the meeting why was NC leader left out and only when he raised hue and cry during his candid talk with a senior editor of a national daily, message was conveyed to the Home Minister to extend him an invitation for the all important meeting.
The actual reasons were not known immediately but a section of political observers feel New Delhi was unhappy with the approach adopted by the opposition party leader.”He was seen provoking the situation than behaving responsibly on ground zero”.
Earlier when Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had chaired an all party meeting in Srinagar, NC had boycotted the same and afterwards Congress refused to see Home Minister in Srinagar while NC leaders attended meeting with him.
