POONCH: To promote sports culture and involved youth with sports activities at village level, Nahru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Poonch on Friday organised two-day District Sports Tournament at Government Higher Secondary School Chandak.
In the tournament, volleyball, kabaddi, long jump, 100 and 400 meters race competitions organized in which 12 teams participated.
In volleyball final, Khan Youth Club Chandak defeated the Imran Youth Club Surankote and both the teams received a cash prize of Rs 1000 and trophies.
In kabaddi final, Khan Association Chandak defeated the Choudhary Youth Club Chandak and lifted the trophy with cash prize of Rs 1,000.
Gurpreet Singh, Senior Major of Army, was Chief Guest on the who gave away trophy and cash prize to the winner and runner teams.
In his address he appreciated the role of NYK Poonch in promotion of rural sports and stress upon youth to participate in sports activities especially rural sports.
K.K Sharma from NYK Poonch said that NYK is committed to promote rural sports at village level by farming village sports club and providing volleyball kits to affiliated club.
He added that the main motive of this programme is to give a platform to the talented youth of Poonch District.
Zaber Mughal from NYK Poonch coordinated the programme.
Israr Khan, Jameel, Asif and Shah Nawaz and Sudesh Gupta were also present. The event was managed by NYK Poonch under the guidance of Somdatt Zard, DYC Poonch.
