JAMMU:National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Sunday held a protest against petrol price which was hiked by Rs 1.34 a liter on Saturday, the fifth increase in two months, and diesel by Rs 2.37 a liter. Scores of NSUI activists led by its State President Neeraj Kundan staged a demonstration against the Central Government on Sunday at Jammu University Gate towards Bikram Chowk seeking immediate roll-back of the latest hike in petrol and diesel prices. NSUI activists moved their bikes and scooters by pushing and raised slogans against the Central Government for unprecedented price rise in the petroleum products including petrol and diesel.
Neeraj Kundan accused the government of being insensitive towards the common man and forgetting the promises made during Lok Sabha campaigning trail.”The Prime Minister should apologise for the false promises he made. This price hike has come at a time when the farmers in the country are facing an acute agrarian crisis without much compensation from the government. This would only increase the burden of farmers”, Neeraj Kundan asserted.
Recalling Narendra Modi’s tweet way back in 2012, when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat that massive hike in petrol prices is a prime example of failure of Congress-led UPA, Fairoz Khan National Secretary NSUI questioned that where is that Modi and where are Ache Din?
Amjad Bhatt State Vice President, Gurpreet Singh, Vishal Kotwal, Aman Thappa, Momin Malik, Tauseef Khan, Chander Sharma, Aftab Keen, Vardhan and others also spoke on the occasion.
