SRINAGAR: Senior National Conference leader and Party General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar (Advocate) on Saturday said that NC stands by its commitment to solve the problems of the flood victims till they are rehabilitated completely.
Addressing workers and party activists of Srinagar city as well as different districts of the Valley, Sagar made it clear that NC will fight hard to provide relief to the flood victims whether in power or not.
“The biggest issue and the challenge for us these days is the rehabilitation of flood victims who are living miserable lives since the catastrophe hit the Kashmir Valley, causing destruction all around, the maximum impact of which was witnessed in parts of Srinagar city,” Sagar said.
He said party has maintained regular contacts with the divisional administration continuously since the September deluge to listen and to solve the grievances of the flood victims. “The rehabilitation of the flood victims is our top concern as hundreds of flood affected are still homeless in this bone-chilling cold,” Sagar said.
Referring to the dilapidated condition of the roads especially Srinagar-Anantnag road, Sagar urged the administration for immediately starting the work to upgrade the roads’ edifice.
“Considering the hostile weather conditions in the valley, if macadamising of roads is difficult, then the administration should fill the roads with gravel to minimise the traffic jams on Jammu-Srinagar National highway,” he suggested.
“We believe people are masters of their own destiny. Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah had made his place in the hearts of masses as he valued and respected them,” he said and added, “It was only for the people of the State that Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah spent 25 years in incarnation and also faced forcible exile.”
