Mendhar witnesses intense protest against Pakistan

MENDHAR : A strong protest against unprovoked Pak firing was held in Mendhar town by the people living along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote, Balnoi and other areas. The demonstration was led by senior BJP leader Zulafkar Pathan.
They took out a rally and raised slogans against Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Army for targeting innocent people, their houses and livestock during the season of harvesting the maize crop.
Addressing the huge gathering of locals and border people, Pathan said that there is continuous firing and mortar shelling from Pakistan side for the last more than a fortnight making it difficult for them to harvest the standing maize crop. He appealed to the Government of India to take effective steps for stopping Pakistan from pounding shells and bullets on innocent civilians.
Prominent among others who spoke included Arif Khan Numberdar Balakote, Haji Imtiaz Khan of Dhrati, Haji Kabir Khan Naib Sarpanch, Javed Iqbal Panch Basooni, Gulshan Kumar, Bansi Lal and Shehraz Ahmed khan.
Meanwhile, Mahasha Naojwan Sabha under its President Darshan Lal Banmotra held a protest against cease fire violations by Pakistan and inflicting casualties on the innocent civilians. Darshan Lal said that Pakistan is using bullets and mortar shells with a definite intention to wage a war against India.
He further said that the Government of India should also give befitting reply to the excesses of Pakistan besides providing proper shelter and safety to the border people. The Naojwan Sabha expressed their sympathy towards the families of those who were killed in firing. The Sabha also demanded that a compensation of Rs 10 lakh should be given to these families.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Sarpanch Bahadur Lal, Kali Dass, Krishan Lal and others.
