SAMBA: A function to commemorate the 69th Martyrdom day of Brigadier Rajinder Singh MVC (Posthumous) was organised at his birth place Bagoona, village Rajinderpura at Samba.
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash,MP Jammu-Poonch, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Vice Chairman State OBC Advisory Board,Rashpaul Verma, MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma, MLA Samba Dr D.K Manyal, MLC Ashok Khajuria ,DC Sheetal Nanda,SSP Joginder Singh, President Dogra Sadar Sabha, Gulchain Singh Charak, Maj General (Retd.) Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (president J&K Ex-Serviceman League), Additional Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Dr. Arvinder Singh, Brigadier R. S Rana and locals in large number paid tributes to Brig Rajinder Singh .
Recalling the bravery and sacrifice of Brigadier Rajinder Singh Deputy Chief Minister said that towering personalities like him are an inspiration for all and inspire us to stand for the sovereignty and integration of our country. He exhorted upon the youth to remember and emulate the bravery of such heroes.
Dr Singh said that government is committed to the welfare of soldier and their families and informed that it is contemplating to formulate a policy for providing job and compensation for wards of martyred soldiers
The minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash said that Brig Rajinder Singh’s heroism is an inspiration for the present and future generations. He appreciated the role of security forces in protecting the country against both internal and external threats.
Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma also called for taking care of kin of martyred soldiers and adequate steps for their welfare . MLA Sat Sharma also spoke on the occasion and paid rich tributes to Brig Rajinder Singh.
Meanwhile, Former Minister and JKPCC General Secretary Manjit Singh also paid rich tributes to Brig Rajinder Singh at his native village in Beguna in Vijaypur, while recalling his supreme sacrifice of the savior of J&K from Pakistan.
Former Minister led people in a function organized at Beguna where they garlanded the photo of the Brig Rajinder Singh, who fought Pakistani forces and saved Jammu and Kashmir.
Criticizing Pakistan, former Minister said that Pakistan has not learnt lesson from Indian Army which it was taught time-to-time for its aggressive postures and unprovoked firing across the borders with India.
He said that they were defeated in all four wars with India. “They should focus on their internal issues instead of creating more trouble for themselves. India is a vast nation and developing too. India’s economy is among the strong nations. Pakistan should not take India’s silence for granted. Our forces are strong enough to teach them once again a strong lesson it does not stop unprovoked firing across the International Border and Line of Control,” he added.
Those who were present included Sarpanch Rajinder Singh Pura Brij Pal Singh , BabbalGupta, Surinder Sharma, Brij Mohan Dutta, Bharat Bushan, Trith Bhagat, Capt. Joginder Lal, Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat, Youth Congress Leader Chander Sheakhar Sharma, Bachan Choudhary.
