JU qualifies for knockout stages of VC’s Cup

JAMMU: With three wins to their credit, University of Jammu (JU) on Saturday confirmed their berth in the knock-out stages of the ongoing 14th All India Vice Chancellor’s Twenty20 Cricket Cup underway at Ludhiana in Punjab.
In today’s league outing, JU defeated Panjab University Chandigarh by 25 runs. Batting first, JU made 152 runs for five wickets, reports reaching here said. Rajesh played fine innings of 21-ball 32 runs while Vishal Sudan and Niranjan contributed 29 and 23 runs respectively. Ameet and Daud added valuable 17 and 16 runs respectively. For Chandigarh, Ved claimed two wickets while Amrinder and Suresh shared a piece each.
In reply, Panjab University was bowled out for 126 runs in 19.2 overs. Raj Kumar claimed three wickets while Pawan and Balwant took two each. Rajesh and Daud shared apiece each. Rajesh Salhotra was adjudged Man of the Match for his all round performance.
Now, in their next league outing, JU shall take on Himachal Pradesh University Shimla tomorrow.
