REASI: To name the district team, an inter-school competition in under-19 age group of boys and girls of district Reasi was held here on Saturday. Around 40 fencers drawn from eight educational institutions contested for the top honours.
In Sabre boys final, Nikhil Atri of Boys HSS Reasi defeated Arjun Singh of HSS Salal 10-07 while Rakesh Kumar of HS Kambal Danga and Sunil Kumar of HSS Pouni remained second and third respectively. In Epee Boys, Manav Magotra of HSS Boys trounced Jasbir of the same school 10-03 to emerge winner. Ankit Sharma of HSS Pouni and Rahul Kumar of HS Kambal Danga shared the third place.
Sahil Sharma of HSS Bharakh defeated Shubhdev Singh of HSS Panthal 10-06 to claim the Foil title. Ramit Sharma of HSS Bharakh and Naseem Shah of HS Kambal Danga finished joint third.
Similarly, in girls section, Shivali Devi of HS Kambal Danga trounced Rupali Magotra of HSS Katra 10-02 in Sabre. Shakshi Rajput of HSS Katra and Kavita Sharma of HSS Bharakh were joint third.
In Epee Girls, Archana Devi of HSS Girls Reasi got better of Sonia Lasotra of HSS Panthal beating latter 10-08. Anu Devi of HSS Panthal and Sujata of HSS Bharakh remained third.
In Foil Girls, Deepika Thakur of HSS Panthal defeated Jyoti Devi of HSS Katra in a nail biting finish 10-09 to claim first position while Diksha Sharma of HSS Girls Reasi and Meena Sharma of HSS panthal remained joint third.
The matches were officiated by Ajay Kumar, Kirna Devi and Hardeep Bhagat.
