JAMMU: Patients visiting the Super Specialty Hospital and Government Medical College Hospital here continue to suffer due to the lack of proper equipments there and they are made to visit private hospitals.
This was stated by State President Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan in a press conference here on Monday.
Recently, we lost a brave soldier in Jammu, who suffered bullet injury in cross border firing, he said, probably due to poor administration and lack of most important facilities in the Government Medical College Hospital Jammu.
There was no experienced surgeon, capable of handling such cases, on duty and the cases were handed over the junior doctors, may be some of them being PG students, he added
Surprisingly, it is not the first such case, he said numerous patients must be losing their lives every year in the GMC and other hospitals in the State due to lack of poor administration, lack of facilities and lack of experienced staff. Out of them, many precious lives could be saved, provided the hospitals had facilities, and qualified and experienced staff, he suggested. He requested Health Minister, Bali Bhagat to bring administrative changes in the health sector. He appealed to the minister to set up office and stay for one hour daily in SSH and GMCH for witnessing the accountability of staff and doctors as mere surprise visits are not enough to improve the working condition of hospitals.
