R S PURA: Department of Botany and Zoology of GDC, R S Pura organised extension lectures under the series of lectures in which Dr. Rajinder Sharma, Department of Botany, GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and Prof. Nargis Nelofar, Department of Zoology GCW Parade, Jammu respectively were Resource Persons.
In the morning session Dr. Rajinder Sharma discussed in detail about ‘Plant Biotechnology vis a vis The Food Security of India’ and in evening session Prof. Nargis Nelofar dealt in detail about the topic ‘The Classification And Types Of Bacteria’.
Earlier Dr. Sharma and Prof. Nargis Nelofar were warmly greeted by Prof. Kalpana Kesar, Principal of the College. The introductory address in the morning session was presented by Pro. S.K Dhar HoD Botany and in the evening by Dr. R.K Santhal HOD Zoology. Formal welcome for both the sessions was presented by Dr. Sunil Gupta Head Department of Mathematics.
In addition to the lecture students had prepared posters on the theme Biotechnology – History and Prospectus. These posters were evaluated by Dr. Rajinder Sharma and three best posters were selected. The poster belonging to Kamini Sharma and Anamika Sharma, Gunjan and Sindu, Vaishali Choudhary and Amandeep were adjudged first second and third respectively.
