The Bold Voice of J&K

Friends and foes

Difficult times are the surest test of friends and foes. The present crisis in the J and K state has clearly exposed friends, foes, distinguishing well-wishers from devilish evil wishers, the sympathisers from the exploiters, the good from the bad and also put in focus the worst of worst’s obstructing rescue.
The vanished State Government machinery less the Chief Minister himself is a unique example of the dereliction to duties. Where were his Cabinet colleagues, his Secretariat? What happened to the crisis management teams? The cloud burst at Leh and flash floods in Jammu Division were enough warnings. With the Secretariat seated at Srinagar why total absence of ‘dynamic’ governance? Where were the tall talkers of the opposition who claim better skills of governance showing rosy pictures “if they come to power” calling own rule as the ‘golden period’ of State’s history.
Where were the self styled ‘real’ custodians of Kashmir and Kashmiriyat?  One was rescued by men of the same force that he is alleged to have ‘murdered in cold blood’, and another, tall stalwart of separatism who has been given so many life savers at the cost of same country that he vows to divide again and keeps spitting venom against it. Here was one more occasion for him to put ‘self respect’ to test before taking refuge.
Even as the men in uniform continue their relentless efforts to help flood victims in Kashmir, their aircraft and boats are being hit by stone-pelters.
Some IAF aircrafts in relief and rescue operations in flooded Srinagar city have suffered damages after they were targeted by stone-pelters but the security personnel say they “won’t give up” till help reaches all. That is the ‘spirit of India’!
“These disruptive elements are fishing in the troubled waters, they must not become impediments in the relief and rescue work being carried”.
“They will get plenty of time afterwards”, Omar said as reported by an agency. What may be his visualisation for “afterwards”?
When calamity strikes, it does not discriminate. This manifested when in floods ravaged Kashmir, along with civilian population, security forces deployed there from various parts of the country were also badly affected; but self less, dauntless they carry on and on!
