POONCH: Faisal clinched the junior boys’ singles title after he defeated Baljeet in straight sets of 11-08, 11-08, 11-05 in the ongoing 22nd District Poonch Table Tennis Championship, here on Wednesday.
Earlier, in the semifinals, played this morning, Faisal outplayed Anuj while Baljeet defeated Vishav. In the preliminary round of the competition, Vishav outplayed Aman 11-09, 11-09 and Baljeet trounced Danish 11-04, 11-06. In another match, Baljeet beat Bhanu 11-08, 11-07.
Today’s matches were held under the supervision of Narinder Singh (PEM). Meanwhile, General Secretary of the District Poonch Table Tennis Association, Salim Bandey informed that the finals in other categories shall be played on Thursday.
Results: Junior Boys: Propkar beat Pratham 11-9,11-2; Faisal defeated Sonu; Faisal blanked Propkar 11-8,11-4; Aman downed Jatin 11-6,11-4; Anuj outplayed Bandey 11-6,11-9; Vishav Kapoor trounced Gurjot 11-8,11-4; Baljeet overpowered Danish 11-6,11-4.
Men’s singles: Sandeep Luthra defeated Sonu 11-7,11-6; Baljeet beat Gurjot 11-5,11-9; Danish defeated Safhan 11-9,11-8; Bandey trounced Jagjit 11-9,11-9; Salil Raina outplayed Ashish 11-7,11-7; Faisal blanked Paropkar 11-9,11-8; Faisal downed Mighty 11-8,11-7; Vishav trounced Aman 11-9,11-8; Anuj overpowered Jatin 11-8,11-8; BHanu beat Marshal 11-7,11-9; Anuj downed Bhanu 11-6,11-9; Anuj blanked Narinder 11-5,11-9.
