NEW DELHI: Deputy Chairman Legislative Council Jehangir Hussain Mir on Tuesday called on Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh and appraised him about the current situation of the State.
Deputy Chairman requested Home Minister for a special recruitment drive in Poonch District so that the local unemployment youth are provided employment avenues. He also asked Home Minister for rail connectivity in Pir-Panjal range.
While apprising the Home Minister about recent developments arising by the continuous shelling by Pakistan even on the civilian population, Mir informed him about the need of various schemes to be taken by the establishment for the people living in these affected districts especially for the people of Poonch and Rajouri who are the symbol of peace and patriotism. He demanded separate cluster colony in Poonch and Rojouri cities for effected families.
Mir gave him a detailed report regarding continuous shelling in border areas of Kathua, Samba, R S Pura, Akhnor, Uri and Mendhar sectors also.
Highlighting the problems of the injured due to continuous shelling of Pakistan, Mir urged Home Minister for special healthcare and emergency treatment for them.
He appealed to the Home Minister to come to the rescue of these neglected people by creating special recruitment drives of police, army and BSF in Poonch so that the local youths get rid of unemployment.
While demanding Rail and Air link to the city, he conveyed that connecting Pir Panjal range through air and rail has become un-avoidable necessity.
Rajnath Singh gave a patient hearing to the demands raised by Mir and promised for all possible help in near future.
