DGP Lohia’s suspicious murder; domestic help sent to judicial custody

JAMMU: The main accrued in the Director General Prisons Hemant Kumar Lohia’s suspicious murder case has been sent on judicial custody while the court has granted an opportunity to the accused Yasir Ahmad to appear with his counsel for narco analysis consent, a mandatory clause according to law.
The Special Crime Branch Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police, investigating Lohia’s murder, is prepared to have narco analysis test of the main accused Yasir Ahmad–the domestic help, alleged in the brutal killing. The accused has also given his consent for the narco test. However, as the consent of the accused has to be made in presence of the accused’s counsel, the court has fixed the next date on October 21, 2022.
On October 3, Lohia was found murdered in a house at Udheywala on Gajansoo Road near Baru Resort in Jammu. Yasir Ahmed, the 23-year-old domestic helper, was arrested after a massive manhunt by the J&K Police on October 4.
The main accused Yasir emerged as the key suspect in the murder as he was found missing from the scene of the crime and later CCTV footage showed him running away from the house using the backdoor.
The accused also attempted to burn the body of the officer by throwing a burning pillow, attracting the attention of the family and his guards who rushed and broke open the door.
