JAMMU: After holding mass deworming camps at far flung areas of Mansar, Dhema, Barga and Jindrah in order to create awareness among the breeders regarding improved health, sanitation and parasitic diseases of livestock, the Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu held a special camp at village Khugge of district Jammu in which about 2000 sheep and goats were provided deworming treatment.
These camps are being held under the instructions of Director, Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu, Dr Sant Ram as a special drive for implementation of mass deworming programmes in far flung areas of Jammu division in order to bring advanced techniques at the doorsteps of breeders.
The breeders hailed the steps taken by the department in mitigating the problems of the nomadic breeders. The breeders requested the department to organize more such camps to benefit their counterparts in other far flung areas.
The doctors and para-vet staff who attended the camp advised the breeders to follow the sheep calendar of Sheep Husbandry Department in order to follow the principle of ‘prevention is better than cure’ in all aspects of sheep and goat rearing.
