SRINAGAR: Former Mini-ster Abdul Gani Vakil called upon the government to defer examinations till February and look for fast track process for the declaration of results.
Asking the government not to make the timing of examinations a point of prestige, Vakil, in a statement issued here on Sunday, said examinations could be held in February and results could be declared in short time through fast track tabulation process”.
“Government can’t forcibly push the injured and mentally upset students into examination halls. Unfortunately Education Minister claiming to be a man of intellect humiliated teachers last year by asking them to sit in a written test and had to roll back his decision in the end.
In fact he had not understood the contents of a Court order on the eligibility of ReT Teachers,” Vakil added.
Vakil said Educa-tion Minister will be inevitably forced by the situational compulsion to defer the examinations but it will be too late for him to do so.
Vakil further said “provocative decisions have to be avoided at all costs to avoid confrontation with teachers and the students.
He called upon the Education Minister to concentrate on the improvement of infrastructure in schools and colleges instead of wasting time on provocative decisions just to invite unwanted controversies.
